Michelle Kenneth's Hockey and Musings

Press Row Fashion – October

Fall has officially started.  The leaves just started to change colors.  With that, the colors and materials start to get heavier.  Here are my #ootd (Outfits of the Day) for game days in October.

It’s all in the details.

One thing New Yorkers love is all black.  It’s our uniform.  What I like to do is make a simple black outfit a little rocker chic by adding a few unlikely details.  The bracelet is from my jeweler of choice Bauble Bar.  This bracelet is from their beginning year of business (not available now).  I’ve been a loyal customer of theirs since the time they went live on the internet.  I love how they’ve grown over this short time and have become the ‘go-to’ for fashionistas that need a little bit of bling.  Or, in my case, an entire jewelry wardrobe of Bauble Bar jewelry.  They are the best.  This bracelet is no longer available, but you’re sure to find a lot of amazing pieces on their site.  They are the only jewelry company I swear by.

Continuing on with the outfit’s little details…add a little mesh on a classic black sweatshirt to create a little surprise, unexpected element.

I’m not a fan of H&M, but every now and again I’ll venture into their store and find a few gems like their big, bulky scarves.  Their scarves are always super warm and so cheap.  Makes it easy to stock up.

The Tod’s bag I love and everyone hates.  It’s so big that people complain that I keep hitting them with it.  Oh well…they shouldn’t be near my bag anyway.  It’s great to carry all of the daily essentials, lunch, workout clothes and press row needs.

All in all, this is a comfy outfit that can brave the warm, not yet cold weather outside, and also allows me to brace myself for the cold hockey rink at night.

Torrid Sweatshirt, $42.50; Calvin Klein dress pants, $79; H&M Scarf (old), similar $12.95; Tod’s large leather satchel (old), $1900, similar medium, $1280; Jewel Mint mosaic ring (old), ring on index finger (?).

This is from the 10/24/14 game, NJ Devils vs. the Dallas Stars.

I love this jacket from Lane Bryant and the top from Anne Taylor.  I get a lot of compliments on both.  It’s very fun and trendy.  The Bauble Bar pieces I’ve had for a couple of years now and I still love them as much as I did when I first unwrapped them from the box.  They definitely make qualitative and beautiful jewelry at a reasonable price.

The Lacoste bag is a favorite when I travel because it is a great weekender bag.  It can fit an entire long weekend of outfits + hockey writing needs and still have plenty of room for extras in case I go shopping.  I picked up this bag a few summers ago, so you won’t find it in this color at this time of year.  Try in the spring/summer.  I’ve seen this color released during that time over the last few years.  Right now, they only have it in black and red.

Anne Taylor faux leather trimmed top, $89 (now on sale for $59.99 + 40% off); Lane Collection Cropped Jacket, $108 (on sale for $49.99), jewelry from Bauble Bar (necklace & bracelets); Gucci watch, $790; Lacoste tote bag, $118 (not available in light blue now, usually available in the summer months).

So that’s it for the all black outfits this month.  For November, I’m adding a little color.
